Chillin' With My Butterfly

At our 2 month appointment, the doctor asked us a number of questions about Max's development.
"Is he practicing holding his head up and pushing up on his forearms?" Of course! He's super strong, though sometimes he bashes his head into my shoulder when he gets tired. Or my collarbone. Or my necklace, or my arm.... "Is he tracking things from side to side with his eyes?" Like Mom or Dad when we walk by? Of course! "Is he responding to toys that make noise?" WHAT? Now why would a 2 month old need toys that made noise? He has us! We talk to him, sing to him, play with him....

So we came home and got some toys out of Max's basket. The basket that was for "when he gets bigger and knows what toys are". Turns out, this butterfly makes noise!

Max was very surprised!
Daddy said "Don't worry Max, I'll help you. To make a friend, you have to BE a friend. So introduce yourself to Butterfly!"

Turns out, Max had many things to say to Butterfly....
Hey Butterfly...do you like my super cool RockStar shirt? My friend Caleb (he's big) gave it to me. Now squeak if you think I'm cute, and I'll smile for you....
Hey Butterfly! Peep my kicks! Yep...my buddy Jack had some sneaks on when we hung out downtown last week, and I told my mom I needed some. Turns out, I had gotten them as a gift before I was even BORN, and they were in my closet already!
Well Butterfly, thanks for hangin' with me. How 'bout we meet up again tomorrow....same time, same place, same sofa?

Mommy Is A Liar

I can sleep just fine! Mommy doesn't know what she's talking about......not only can I sleep, but I'm perfectly adorable every single time I do it!

2 Month Doctor's Appointment

Max went to see Dr. L today for his 2 month check-up...and he's growing in all the right ways! The scale below says 11 lbs 6 oz, but minus the diaper he's about 11 lbs 5 oz. He is 22.5 inches, and hitting all of his milestones!
Daddy had a little chat with Max before he got his shots. Something about not being a wimp, apparently....because Max only cried for a few short seconds! What a tough guy......
We feel very fortunate that Max hasn't had any significant side effects from the shots yet. He was a little sleepy though.......
Note from the next morning: Most babies sleep for a loooong time after shots. Most sleep for a loooong time after having baby tylenol for most of the day. Not our little night owl! After this adorable family shot, he proceeded to wake up every three hours on the dot....just like he always does! We sure love our little alarm clock!

Thumbs Up

I'm starting to learn that my hands are actually attached to my body! I've been sucking on my hand, and then my thumb knuckle.....as soon as I figure out how to open this thing that has 5 fingers attached, I'll be golden!

Bottle Drunk

Ohhhh....my belly. I think I over-indulged!
Can someone please bring me a large glass of water and 2 tylenol? I'm gonna feel like shit in the morning!

Stylin' Boy

Hi Everyone! Just thought I'd show off my cool outfit. My cargo pants convert to cargo shorts....the pockets are helpful just in case I need to stash my pacifier, or a few quarters for the soda machine. Mommy and Baubee picked these pants out before I was even born. Guess I'm destined to be a Gap Baby after all!

LMAO

Max LAUGHED for the first time today! Even funnier? The reason why....

For some odd reason, I decided that when I was feeding Max this afternoon I needed to have something covering my lap. Maybe it was because I had a white skirt on. Maybe it was because for the first time in 9+ months I actually thought that my outfit looked cute. Maybe it was mother's intuition.....shit, I guess that's really kicked in! Or maybe it was just the quick realization that since Max's tummy and legs had graduated from Newborn diapers to Size 1 diapers, his butt had not. Yep....he has the Simon butt....and it means that he can't exactly hold his diapers up THAT well yet.

Which meant...

Poop explosion. All over mom. Not just a little drip, but actual poop....OUT of the diaper and on to (thank god) the lap pad that was covering my skirt.

So Dad jumped off of the counter (where he was hanging the new pendant lamps in our kitchen) and came over to save the day.

AND....there I was, rinsing out Max's onesie in the bathroom sink while Sean was putting a new diaper on him.....and I hear Max LAUGHING. So I yell to Sean "Is that what I think it is??" and he yells back...."YEP! He thinks this is hysterical!"

Thank god our son has a good sense of humor.
